Even if your knowledge of the planetary sciences is limited to Star Trek dialogue and occasional star-gazing, MIT professor Sara Seager will expand your known universe with this talk at the AMNH's Hayden Planetarium. Seager's research focuses on the atmospheres and interiors of extrasolar planets, with particular attention given to the transiting planets that can be observed and measured from Earth. The information she and her colleagues have collected has accelerated the search for habitable worlds and provides further insight into our own drifting rock. Geeks, conspiracy nuts, and the uninformed are all welcome.
