William Shatner has parodied himself to the point of once again becoming a respected pop icon. Well, maybe "respected" isn't the right word, but the Priceline spokesman is at least unimpeachably self-aware. Aside from Captain Kirk and T. J. Hooker, Shatner has made a name for himself recently as Denny Crane on Boston Legal. (And why he didn't receive more recognition for his role as Mark Preston in the 1975 cult classic The Devil's Rain — featuring John Travolta — is a mystery.) Tonight, WNYC's Leonard Lopate interviews the 77-year-old actor/singer/producer/director about his new memoir, Up Till Now: The Autobiography.
