It seems fitting that Jonathan Ames, best known for his audacious personal essays (including one recounting a shower mishap that resulted in torched testes) should host this show on chutzpah. The novelist and downtown performance artist is a veteran host of the popular storytelling event, beginning each show with his beguiling "hairy call," a sound Ames claims has healing powers. As at all Moth shows, the stories are told, not read, and the oral format creates a sense of immediacy rarely found at literary events. Tonight's storytellers include NPR's Frank Deford and Tony Award-winning actors James Naughton and Joanna Gleason. An added incentive: admission includes a free drink.
