Having picked up the Edinburgh Fringe Festival's Best Ensemble award last summer, the Shalimar company returns to New York with eight performances of its Rocky Horror-esque retelling of Seneca's Phaedra. Writer/director Shoshona Currier and the Shalimar company have turned the story of forbidden lust into a celebrity fantasia including found text, live music, wigs, pole dancing, and a boxing match to the death. La Femme Est Morte skewers America's unwavering obsession with Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie, even as it reminds us that we're at war. Also included: speeches by General George Patton, the writings of Bret Easton Ellis, and interviews with erstwhile pedophile Mary Kay Letourneau.
