Performing Arts: Theatre Prisoner of the Crown

The Chelsea-based Irish Repertory Theatre company is devoted to Irish and Irish-American work. The New York premiere of Richard F. Stockton's Prisoner of the Crown serves up injustice in the jury room of London's Old Bailey, during the trial (and subsequent tribulations) of Sir Roger Casement. The knighted Irish patriot and celebrated do-gooder falls from grace precipitously by way of personal scandal — similar in manner to fellow Dubliner Oscar Wilde.
