Outside the world of visual arts, Bill Shannon is best known as the breakdancer (and sometime-skater) deftly balanced on a pair of crutches. Born with a rare disease that caused a bilateral hip deformity, Shannon incorporated the trappings of his disability into a flabbergasting combination of skateboarding grinds and street-style choreography. In the gallery, his multimedia work centers around video of a shades-sporting, fedora-wearing mystery man, projected onto semitransparent material that brings the creepy specter into real space.
