The Corning Museum of Glass sets up shop in the Cooper-Hewitt garden for live demos of scalding hot design in its annual series GlassLab. Working with precision hand-blowing skills, a group of design-minded visionaries — vinyl-toy tinkerers Kid Robot, housewares hub Boym, and the more technologically inclined reps from Antenna Design — prove that glasswork can transcend the kitchen, and even the smoke lounge. Techniques range from traditional blown glass, fusing, sandblasting, and lamp work, and results are bound to be even more colorful than the Hewitt's bustling garden, now in bloom.
