Film Son of Rambow

Young Will lives in a religious cult that forbids television or film. But once school bully Lee exposes him to a bootleg copy of First Blood, all is lost. The two embark on a mad mission to film an homage to Rambo that is packed with their own stunts and costars a waggish French exchange student who comes with his own fan club. Slapstick if not downright silly, Son of Rambow works because its actors commit to the premise with a fierce gravity that only rachets up the film's already high comedy. It helps that writer/director Garth Jennings displays a strong aversion to treacle.
