On the third Thursday of each month, Detroit transplant and current NYC techno ambassador Derek Plaslaiko is running the downstairs at APT. For the kickoff, he brings longtime friend Magda over from his former stomping grounds. The recent announcement from Magda's label, M_nus, about an event series involving an apparently worship-worthy "cube" technology has the techno cognoscenti rolling their eyes, but it doesn't overshadow the fact that she's a groundbreaking DJ, as well. Her sound is carefully curated and bouncy — she chops up tracks and edits them on the fly for a smooth, danceable, minimal flow. She's also rarely in town to play at such an intimate space, so get there early.
