In support of the Architecture of Authority exhibition's accompanying book, photographer Richard Ross takes a Foucauldian look at institutional spaces. Ross examines everything from a Montessori preschool to an interrogation room at Gitmo to show how buildings are far from innocent bystanders when it comes to the use and abuse of power within their walls — really, they're authority's accomplices. The clean, undramatic images are all the more disquieting for their lack of human subjects, leaving the imagination to flesh out the scene.
