Performing Arts: Dance MOMIX: Lunar Sea

Moses Pendleton's acrobatic dance company MOMIX brings its classic Lunar Sea to the second half of the Joyce's month-long season. In typical Pendleton form, the full-evening work features cinematic effects, black lights, and psychedelic, morphing creatures (as well as improv-happy dancers with awe-inspiring physical abilities). Drawing on his roots as co-founder of Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Pendleton layers gravity-defying choreography with images of underwater fantasy to create a world in which mermaids cavort with carnivorous crabs, far away from anything you'd normally call "dance."
