With rock stars turning to astrophysics and environmentalism reaching a fever pitch, science has never been cooler. The World Science Fair casts away the tired cliché of the papier-mâché solar system and shows off the chic of geek with its five-day series of lectures, films, and presentations. Highlights include a film by Eels frontman Mark Everett about his physicist father's theory of parallel worlds, the hosts of WNYC Radiolab discussing the science of irrationality with behavioral experts, and storytelling collective the Moth's special showcase on experiments gone wrong. The impressive list of contributors also includes Sam Shepard, Lucy Hawking, and Nathan Englander.
