Hearing a Rob Swift track feels like going on a supersonic journey through the mixmaster's musical history, in which he condenses golden-era hip-hop lyrics, dubby vocals, and jazzy riffs into delicious audiobites. The Queens-born DJ and Jammin' on the One special guest has been honing his streamlined sound since the late '80s, and tonight he dishes it up for the downtown set. Backing him up is DJ 9th Wonder, who, fresh off his newest Buckshot collab, The Formula, burns up the decks with indie-hop beats. Fellow resident spinner DJ Me-Lo-X also drops the needle on some funky cuts.
