Natsuki Uruma

Natsuki Uruma's early guerrilla performances interrupted the humdrum routine of public life with feats that most would only consider after a night of heavy drinking — including urinating in a New York Chanel store and pole dancing for London Tube passengers. But instead of feigning memory loss or pleading guilty, Uruma has built a career on such debauchery. For her first US solo exhibition, the artist presents v.o.y.a.g.e., a "hallucinatory epic" video work made in conjunction with physically challenged artist Lucy Apple. The two pilot a raft built in the middle of a chroma-key studio, rowing through a wash of lo-fi psychedelic imagery and sound effects.
