Notorious shopping grounds for bloodthirsty gallerists and curators, Columbia's MFA Exhibition is your chance to play collector and try to guess which one of these young go-getters will make it into the 2010 Whitney Biennial. All media is represented: there's Oz Malul's interactive installation, a room-sized version of that boring ball-and-bars game, Shoot the Moon; Kai McBride's readymade photocollage of bus-bench real-estate agents set in Tampa; and graphite drawings of sloganeering typography samplers by Alyssa Pheobus. Before success sets them in their ways, or failure turns them into bitter high-school teachers, the artists celebrate time well spent at one of the nation's most prestigious visual-arts programs.
