Kristin Griffith gives an uninhibited performance as Richard Nixon's secretary Rose Mary Woods in Susan Bernfield's STRETCH (a fantasia). History remembers Woods for "accidentally" erasing 18.5 minutes of a taped Oval Office conversation that ostensibly pointed to Nixon's advance knowledge of the Watergate burglary. In STRETCH, Emma Griffin's well-paced direction, her leading lady, and the cast humorously fill in the gaps between Watergate and the 2004 presidential election. Shifting through time and Woods' memories in a cigarette-smoke haze, the play portrays Nixon's "gatekeeper" as a woman who stretched her deepest values in order to satisfy her love of power.
