Life ain't easy for the aging, alcoholic pirate in Jollyship the Whiz Bang, a "Pirate-Puppet-Rock Odyssey." At sea for months, Captain Clamp and his shipmates search for Party Island — a haven for raping, pillaging, and plundering, naturally — but steer off course because the Captain keeps blacking out (his heart medication interferes with his drinking; or is it the other way around?). The cabin boy goes missing, an evangelical crab shows up, and mutiny is just around the corner in this lovably wacky production. Jollyship, the brainchild of Nick Jones and Raja Azar, usually play rock clubs; they benefit from a lavish off-Broadway production at Ars Nova, helmed by Sam Gold (Rag and Bone).
