BAST is an elusive street artist whose presence is only confirmed by his work — created in the dark, and revealed in the light. For the last ten years, the Brooklyn-based artist has plastered NYC and Europe with images appropriated from the media, advertising, and Disney, all humorously warped with a distinct punk cynicism. More recently, BAST has branched out, producing works on canvas and taxidermy-style "monsters," adorned with bling and neon baseball hats. A show of his new prints christens the Brooklynite Gallery — an artist-run space in Bed-Stuy with a penchant for pop and street art.
