As you cruise past the LES knish shops and Chinatown fruit stands this afternoon, stop by the Eldridge Street block party to celebrate the fusion of Chinese and Jewish culture. Centered around the magnificent Eldridge Street Synagogue (built in 1887), today's festival brings two of the city's oldest traditions streetside with a beautiful hodgepodge of yarmulkes and silk robes. Edutain yourself with mah-jongg games and a klezmer concert, and then nosh your afternoon away with those two iconic delicacies: egg rolls and egg creams. And when you're sated, see if you can get your face painted with a dragon blowing a shofar.
