William Gibson, Spook Country

Most sci-fi geeks know William Gibson as a digital-age visionary and the father of cyberpunk, but those who don't know his name would certainly still spot his influence. The themes and aesthetics of Gibson's fictional worlds were conspicuously copied by the Wachowski brothers in their Matrix trilogy, as well as by a generation of technophilic literature and film. The reclusive Gibson makes a rare public appearance tonight to promote his most recent novel, Spook Country; a continuation of his previous work, Pattern Recognition, it portrays a hyper-technologized world in which the exchange of information has superseded all other black markets.
