Cedar Lake is a vibrant contemporary ballet company housed in the former studio of famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. The group is known for its efforts to modernize the art form, and the spring season typically packs in emerging international choreographers. The centerpiece is the US premiere of Jo Stromgren's "Sunday Again," which illustrates the monotony of upper-crust leisure through badminton matches rife with sexual innuendo and emotional turmoil. The dancers play off each other's energy, effortlessly handling the ebbs and flows of the piece. Also on the program are Angelin Preljocaj's duet "Annonciation" and Nicolo Fonte's dreamlike "Lasting Imprint."
