Sure, Scandinavian metalheads, Klansmen, and inner-city gang members have violent ideologies, wear weird costumes, and are considered by most to be real-life monsters, but even hooded Grand Wizards, corpse-painted Satanists, and tattooed gangbangers have dreams, loved ones, and hobbies — which is to say, they're human. Photographer Max Snow got up-close-and-personal with some of these outsiders, and the resulting portraits are as fascinating for their subcultural allusions as they are for the humanizing nuances that pierce through their subjects' tough exteriors.
