This isn't your typical end-of-the-year dance recital. Rather than bunnies in tutus, Dancing Across Cultural Borders features court and folk dances from around the world, as Lotus, New York City's only school for traditional and indigenous performing arts, offers a five-performance showcase by its master teachers and students. Lotus is renowned for its emphasis on Indian culture, as well — this festival is an opportunity to see four technically demanding and beautiful types of classical Indian dance: Bharata Natyam, Odissi, Manipuri, and Kathak, along with the contemporary, bouncy Bollywood style.
