Playwright Brooke Berman writes stories of city-living women who suffer for their independence. They work at unglamorous jobs, squeeze themselves into undersized apartments, and move between longtime boyfriends and dead-end affairs with unconvincing nonchalance. In Berman's latest play, presented with polish by Women's Expressive Theater, the characters have been relocated to the country, but metropolitan anxieties are still felt. (Maybe it's all the coffee — these ladies don't drink cosmos.) Amy and Isaac have decided to marry after 15 years of on-and-off dating, but when Amy's best friend Emma pays a weekend visit, an old diary is discovered and the good humor turns sour.
