Music: Hip-Hop Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival

The fourth-annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival comes correct, with a lineup repping the old school and the new school, the East Coast and the West Coast. Even after 20 years in the game, headliner KRS-One still spits relevant rhymes, while Boot Camp Clik head honcho (and recent KRS collaborator) Buckshot drops theatrical expressions and a high-energy flow. Production guru and hip-hop hero DJ Premier puts the golden scratch on a few records, and Blu & Exile bring their Gangstarr-ish sound from the fresh coast. Hosted by music-video pioneer Uncle Ralph McDaniels, the fest also brings together young talent Fresh Daily, Harlem rapper 88-Keys, and Capetown neo-soulster Zaki Ibrahim.
