Performing Arts: Comedy Ricky Gervais

It's true that comedy doesn't always survive its trips overseas (Coupling, anyone?), but before Steve Carell stepped into the awkward 'n offbeat atmosphere of The Office, British comedian Ricky Gervais was there first. Series co-creator Gervais quickly gained notoriety as the self-involved, clueless boss David Brent, sending chortles across a startlingly wide range of audiences. He has since been involved in a variety of new projects, including his also-excellent HBO series Extras, three comedy tours, and a podcast. The ubiquitous Gervais visits New York a three-night stint of hilarious banter and tongue-in-cheek cracks.
