Performing Arts: Dance Dance Out!

The Joyce Theater teams up with City Parks Foundation for the Dance Out! festival, as the city's green space provides rich terrain for three international dance companies. Netherlands-based choreographer Michael Schumacher incorporates setting and audience into Dans le Jardin, while France's Compagnie Beau Geste channels Maria Callas in Transports Exceptionnels, in which a man meets an excavator on a construction site. Portuguese choreographer Rui Horta thinks vertically in Contigo, a solo show that features acrobat João Pereira Dos Santos working with a 20-foot Chinese pole. Take in some fresh air — and all three works — on opening night in the East River Park.
