Film All the Real Americans: The World of David Gordon Green

David Gordon Green's talent for creating moody, coming-of-age dramas has drawn universal acclaim since his feature-length debut George Washington (2000). To date, the young director has been known for a steady output of darkly emotional portraits populated by haunted characters, but his forthcoming film, Pineapple Express, veers in the direction of stoner satire. BAM hosts a retrospective of Green's feature films, accompanied by a selection of movies that reflect his primary influences — chief among them the work of writer/director Terrence Malick and William Faulkner's Southern gothic tradition. The 11-film series concludes with a sneak preview of Pineapple Express.
