DJ Shadow's salad days as a producer may be behind him, but his live collaborations with turntablist Cut Chemist remain as vibrant as ever. The partnership first built momentum with 2001's Brainfreeze mix CD, which found the two vinyl obsessives cutting their way through a series of obscure, catchy — and occasionally kitschy — funk and soul 45s. Bringing similar work The Hard Sell back to NYC, the pair drop a wickedly improvised performance on four or more decks. Expect rare records, deep funk grooves, and plenty of B-boy swagger, as the seasoned musicians' fiery sense of showmanship underpins today's pool party performance.
