This meta-musical about four friends trying to write a musical about four friends trying to write a musical is at once cynical and eager, serious and funny. There's no shortage of self-referential theatre out there, but with [title of show]'s unpretentious atmosphere, even the wink-winking is endearing. Though the pop-influenced musical numbers are memorable, what truly sticks with you are the personalities, in all their self-effacing glory. We all want artsy friends that ooze wit; and for just under two hours, [title of show] gives you just that.
