Music: Rock/Pop Celebrate Brooklyn presents Deerhoof and the Metropolis Ensemble: The Rite Remixed

In this corner: The Rite of Spring, Igor Stravinsky's storied masterpiece of neoclassical ballet, as reimagined by a band of technophiles. Metropolis Ensemble's The Rite: Remixed twists Stravinsky's riot-inspiring composition into nigh-unrecognizable (but still beautiful) shapes, augmenting the original's dissonant polyphony with electronic blips 'n beats. And in this corner: Spazzy indie-rock quartet Deerhoof, whose convoluted pop songs — while not exactly riot-inducing — have been known to cause more than a few cases of music-nerd meltdown. Who will emerge victorious from this battle of musical wit? Whose melodic structures will go down in history as the most playfully subverted? Did we mention this epic bout is free?
