Assuming you aren't entirely wiped from a day spent staked on Coney Island asphalt (going home is so not rock 'n roll!), head to the Bowery — Brooklyn smoove-poppers Tigercity are sure to soothe your sunburn. Though the incessantly touring quartet are now in the studio, finally laying down a debut LP, they take a break tonight to lay down their funky, falsetto-fied jams on an actual audience. Think Prince… on quaaludes. Openers Murder Mystery mine a different era with simple and pleasing '50s-tinged indie-pop. The jingle-jangle sounds retro, but the lyrics are delivered in an almost sardonic monotone, recalling Jonathan Richman and his much more Modern Lovers.
