The strange but affecting comedy What to Do When You Hate All Your Friends captures the awkward reality of relationships through surreal actions and interactions. In accordance with Twilight Zone-like social rules, Celia and her friends fabricate their own popularity, and due to his attraction to Celia, the people-hating Matt suddenly finds himself in the middle of this group. The capable cast, led by director Jacob Krueger, performs Larry Kunofsky's script with supreme confidence. Most refreshingly, the story steers clear of a fairy-tale ending, reminding us that the destination may matter less than what one experiences during the journey.
