Performing Arts: Theatre Misalliance

With its roving outdoor staging, lack of sets, and mobile audience, New York Classical Theatre creates anything but traditional productions. This season, Nobel- and Oscar-winning playwright George Bernard Shaw's satire Misalliance uses theatre as a forum for both social debate and genuine hilarity. Depictions of inequality and marriage in Victorian England — along with a plane crash, a circus acrobat, and eight marriage proposals — pepper the hysterically absurd two-act play. Consider bringing a blanket and a light dinner, but keep in mind that attendance requires the audience members to be constantly in motion.
