Film: Shorts Rooftop Films presents Un-American Films

In this moment of fractured national spirit, the Rooftop Films collective has curated an alternative to the usual Fourth of July festivities. The evening begins with Pitchfork-approved triumph rockers Titus Andronicus, whose nihilistic party anthems all but set flags on fire. Next comes the city's ever-dazzling fireworks display, followed by a no-less-stunning program of provocative shorts films. Subjects from presidential myth-making (JFK) to urban confrontation (City) and the absurdities of war (Germans in the Woods, Left in Baghdad) inject shades of gray into a day that's usually red, white, and blue all over.
