Dirty Projectors

Dave Longstreth, the twisted genius behind the Dirty Projectors, is unintimidated by the fact that most far-fetched concept albums fall flat. Finding his muse in Black Flag, Longstreth re-imagined the legendary band's tunes for his breakthrough album, 2007's Rise Above. Though Black Flag's legendary punk music was best known for its raw energy, Longstreth's from-memory recreations pair the band's incendiary spirit with layered guitars and harmonies. Featuring an equally innovative opener — funky laptop popper White Williams — tonight's free show at the Seaport is a sure shot for indie outsiders and aging punks alike.
