American minimalist sculptor Richard Serra gets the documentary treatment in Maria Anna Tappeiner's film Richard Serra: Thinking on Your Feet. Serra is known best for his massive, site-specific steel installations around the world (and their accompanying controversies). The film explores the artist's philosophies and processes, centering around The Matter of Time, an installation at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Tappeiner's film explores Serra's belief in an inextricable relationship between the site and the art that inhabits it. As Serra famously said, "To remove the work is to destroy it."
