Char Johnson, responsible for the provocative vocals on Simian Mobile Disco's "Hustler," performs tonight at Williamsburg's classy-yet-affordable restaurant and performance space, Monkey Town. In addition to her sultry, mature singing, Johnson is a dexterous rapper and gracefully switches between the two modes like Lauryn Hill. Johnson is accompanied by Eli Orling on the Casio Beat Machine; there is no word on whether she plans to take a cue from SMD's video for "Hustler" and play seductively with food. Also on the bill is Iyaxia (aka Chrissy Rossettie), a badass chick whose blippy electro-noise causes aneurysms of happiness.
