Music: Rock/Pop Caithlin de Marrais w/ Balthrop, Alabama, Benji Cossa, and Rocketship Park

It's been two years since the breakup of Rainer Maria. While there's no sign of a reunion yet, lead singer and bassist Caithlin de Marrais headlines Mercury Lounge tonight in support of her upcoming album, My Magic City. A departure from Rainer Maria's distorted fuzzy melodies, the record features acoustic instruments and optimistic, softly sung love songs. Adding to the all-in-the-family folkishness of the evening, the opening acts are side projects of de Marrais' band members: Pascal Balthrop is the namesake of Balthrop, Alabama and Josh Kaufman plays in Rocketship Park.
