As other third-wave ska bands became mired in cheesy antics and pop-punk's immature aggression, NYC outfit the Slackers have militantly retained their roots. Tempering the heavy rhythms of classic Jamaican music with the barbed-wire breath of singer Vic Ruggiero, the band continues to mix true-blue soul with seedy, old-school ska.
