In award-winning actor/playwright (and Flavorpill contributor) Halley Bondy's The Redheaded Man, a schizophrenic young architect named Brian (David Jenkins) is ruled by an imperious voice in his head. The voice (Bruce Bluett) is inaudible to others — including Brian's comically incompetent, pharmaceuticals-addicted psychiatrist (Michelle Sims), his scheming hottie girlfriend (Bondy herself), and his hip, pub-crawling roommate (James Edward Shippy). The voice eventually reveals itself as Brian's defense against events too painful to recall, and the tale draws to a startling, gut-wrenching conclusion. Directed by Jessica Fisch, this stinging journey inside a damaged psyche is complemented by video projections of Brian's fantasies.
