Jamie Lidell has arrived. In his performances since 2005's fantastically received, surprisingly soulful Multiply, the demi-founder of the now-defunct IDM outfit Super_Collider has thrilled audiences with a charismatic one-man show full of electronic gizmos and looped vocal tracks. This time around, Lidell's enlisted the help of a full backing band to reproduce the polished funk and R&B of his latest record, Jim. Mixing his gifted pipes front and center, Lidell evokes the pure pop of a Stax/Volt single, with filthy bass lines, driving piano melodies, bluesy guitars, and plenty of unabashed handclaps.
