Brooklyn Historical Society says…

From its sprawling industrial dead zones and rusty shipyards to its rolling parks and sought-after blocks of brownstones, Brooklyn wears many faces. With help from Counter/Culture at the Brooklyn Historical Society, photographers and curators James & Karla Murray document the increasingly rare appearance of mom-and-pop storefronts — from barber shops to bodegas — giving residents old and new a chance to pay tribute to a waning tradition.
