Music: Rock/Pop The Kooks w/ Stellastarr* and Illinois

Anthemic UK indie popsters the Kooks have been paying NYC repeated visits of late, and playing increasingly large venues each time around. This time, they're out in the open air, keeping Rumsey Playfield's stage rocking into the fall. Wearing at least one of their influences on their sleeve, the Kooks have begun playing a cover of the Kinks' "Victoria" at shows — a move that recently landed them an onstage collaboration with Ray Davies himself. (The band has also recorded at the Kinks' studio, Konk, and named its second album after the place.) New York's own Stellastarr* resurface to open the show, previewing tracks from their soon-to-be-released third album.
