Burning Man may be a pile of ash by now, but the fourth annual GlobeSonic festival keeps the pantheistic spirit alive with a late-summer celebration of rhythm and world cultures. Musicians, dancers, yoga practitioners, and generally curious onlookers descend upon the Hudson River, rumbling to a fluid, transnational soundtrack by New York's GlobeSonic Sound System. The organizers take fun seriously — Sound System founder Fabian Alsultany aims to "stimulate a deep sense of planetary unity through music and dance" — so dig up your earth tones and get ready to groove.
