Quickening uncovers the struggles of four women who make the choice to have abortions. Set in a Portland abortion clinic, the protagonists shed warmth and humor on life's difficult decisions through flashbacks and future visions. The women sit, paper-gowned, and wait, growing closer despite their religious ideologies, brash declarations, and romantic notions of rites of passage. Thoughtful, sad, and at times uncomfortably funny, the script reminds us that every choice bears consequences.
