Now in its fourth year, the NYC Short Film Festival brings a diverse group of original, international shorts to uptown institution Symphony Space. This year's lineup includes Carlos Barbot's Rattus, a documentary about New Yorkers who (willingly) keep pet rats; Turtle and Shark, an animated adaptation of a popular Samoan legend of love and cannibalism; Señas Particulares, Kenya Marquez's chilling drama about a missing child; and Wednesday Jez's Bye-Bye Boobies, an autobiographical account of female-to-male chest reconstruction surgery. Stick around after the screenings to hear attending filmmakers discuss their work in Q&A discussions.
