Squeeze's appeal is perhaps best captured in the Gen-X comedy Reality Bites (1994). When Winona Ryder and Janeane Garofalo start into the first few measures of "Tempted," you simply have to sing along: "I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face / Pajamas, a hairbrush, new shoes, and a case..." Band masterminds Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford led one of the most underrated pop acts of the '70s and '80s, dropping the aforementioned gem alongside fantastic singles like "Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)," "Hourglass," and "Black Coffee in Bed." After years of lineup changes, breakups, and hiatuses, they've emerged as a wizened reunion act.
