Shu Fang Peking Opera Company's Women Generals of the Yang Family is a Peking classic depicting the 800-year-old story of the Chinese heroines who led an army to defend their kingdom. The head of this clan was a 100-year-old matriarch who eventually defeated the enemy army and avenged the deaths of her compatriots. The production uses pristine, sparkling costumes to call attention to the performers' acrobatic feats of martial arts and mime, beautiful song, and subtly choreographed dances.
