Creative Time and Park Avenue Armory celebrate the election year (and their first-amendment rights) with Democracy in America: The National Campaign. The ambitious array of street performances and installations includes footage of Sharon Hayes' Revolutionary Love (1 and 2), which took queer rights to the RNC and DNC, and Steve Powers' (aka ESPO) controversial Waterboard Thrill Ride, which brought Guantánamo torture tactics to Coney Island with the help of animatronics and some brave live-action volunteers. Angel Nevarez and Valerie Tevere's Another Protest Song project goes live with a full night of bands, and the ever-radical Yes Men give the weeklong affair some appropriately revisionist closure.
